Claude saves memory as topics while you chat, with a separate memory for each project, and paid plans can search past chats. Dray saves your claude.ai chats to your own Dray account, where every assistant and agent you connect can search them.
Memory is on by default for Free, Pro and Max plans on the web, Claude Desktop and Claude Mobile. On Team and Enterprise, owners control whether it’s available, and it’s off for each member until they turn it on. Claude Help Center: memory
“Claude saves memory as a set of individual topics as you chat, rather than summarizing conversations after they end.” You can also tell it to remember something. Claude Help Center: memory
It keeps things like your role and projects, people and places, how you like to communicate and work, your technical preferences and coding style, and ongoing work. Claude Help Center: memory
On paid plans (Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise), Claude can also search your past chats: all chats outside projects, and each project’s chats from inside that project. The switch is “Search and reference chats” in Settings > Memory. Claude Help Center: memory
By default Claude doesn’t store sensitive topics such as health, religion or politics, unless you turn on “Include sensitive topics in memory”. Some things are never saved, such as government ID numbers and financial account numbers. Claude Help Center: memory
Everything Claude remembers is listed under Topics in Settings > Memory, where you can edit or delete it. Pause memory stops Claude using and adding to it, and Reset memory deletes all of it, project memories included. Claude Help Center: memory
Incognito chats aren’t saved to memory or chat history. Deleting a chat doesn’t remove the memory entries made from it, so delete those separately. Claude Help Center: memory
What Dray adds
Dray for Chrome saves your chats on claude.ai, with their titles and dates, the names of your projects, and the files and images in your chats. One switch turns files off. Dray privacy policy
Chats in the Claude desktop app and on your phone are saved too, while Chrome is running and signed in to the site. The extension reads them from the site in the background, with no tab open: about once a minute while the computer is in use, and every 15 minutes when it is idle or locked. It starts from when it is turned on; older chats come in through “Read my history”. If the site is signed out in Chrome, or Chrome is closed, those chats wait until that is fixed. Dray help
Dray doesn’t sync with Claude’s own memory. Your topics stay in Claude, and Dray keeps the chats. Dray field guide
Claude’s chat search covers Claude’s own chats. Connected to Dray, Claude can also search what you saved from ChatGPT, Grok and your coding agents. One connection covers Claude on the web, the desktop app and mobile. Dray: connect
You choose how far back Dray reads, from the last three days to all of your history. When you delete a chat in Claude while Dray is running, Dray deletes it from your memory too. Dray helpDray privacy policy
On a saved chat, the Dray menu offers “Ask ChatGPT about this chat” (or Grok), listing only assistants you have connected. It opens that assistant with the request typed, and you press Send yourself. Dray help
You can also import a Claude export from your dashboard. Your browser reads the file and sends Dray the text of your chats and the names of attached files, never the files themselves. Dray privacy policy
Claude Code is a separate app with its own memory. The Dray CLI saves its sessions: see Claude Code memory.
Dray for Chrome sets this up on claude.ai. Dray adds itself as a plugin under Customize, then asks you to connect it. Claude’s free plan has no plugins but allows one custom connector, so there setup offers Add Dray as a connector instead. Dray help
Set it up by hand
Server URL
https://mcp.withdray.com/mcp
Open claude.ai/customize/connectors, choose Add, then Add custom connector.
Name it Dray, paste the server URL, choose Continue, then Add.
Plugins you add on claude.ai also appear in Claude Code (version 2.1.273 or later), one way. Even if the Dray plugin syncs over, approve the computer with the Dray CLI before Claude Code sessions are saved. Claude Help Center: pluginsDray help
Check that it works
Paste this into a new Claude chat. Dray can take about 15 minutes to learn from a new message. Dray help

Use Dray to tell me what you remember about my current projects. If no memory is available, say so.
Limits
Dray doesn’t add to or change your memory topics in Claude. Dray field guide
Claude’s memory isn’t available to organizations with HIPAA, public-sector or custom data retention agreements. Claude Help Center: memory
Saving chats needs Chrome (116 or later), Edge, Brave or Opera on a computer. Safari, Firefox, phones and tablets can’t install the extension. Dray help
Reading may miss or misread chats, and memory extraction can be wrong.
Some business plans switch MCP off or allow only approved servers. Dray: connect
Dray learns from 1,000, 5,000 or 20,000 of your messages a month, depending on your plan. Going over deletes nothing; new messages wait until the month resets or you move up. Dray: usage
