Find and fix a missing piece 2 min read

Verify an AI memory connection end to end

Create a harmless test detail, confirm it is captured, wait for sync, and ask a separate connected assistant to retrieve it with a source. This checks the path from source to answer rather than just the sign-in step.

Choose a detail the model cannot know by default

A generic fact like “the sky is blue” tells you nothing about retrieval. Use a fictional project name and an unusual, harmless detail. Keep a note of the source conversation so you can inspect it later.

Do not put a password, real customer detail, or private file into a connection test. The test should remain safe even if you accidentally choose the wrong destination account.

Record what each step proves

Seeing the source in an archive supports capture. A successful destination tool request supports access. A correct source-backed result supports retrieval for that test. None of those proves that every conversation is available or every future answer will be right.

Repeat the test after changing accounts, credentials, or client configuration. Use the same source initially so you are not changing the data and the connection at once. Remove test material later using the available controls if you no longer need it.

USING THIS WITH DRAY

Keep the context. Check the source.

The same account must be correctly connected where required, and the assistant must actually consult Dray. Client setup differs between browser assistants and CLI agents.

Dray is in beta. Available sources and connections depend on your setup. Read the data notes before granting access.
